Jarrod Jones ended with 16 points and eight rebounds for the Cardinals (3-5), who have dropped five of six after opening the season with back-to-back wins. Terrence Watson donated 12 points and Jauwan Scaife 10 in the loss.
The Boilermakers jumped out to a 15-6 lead on a Ryne Smith layup, and led 23-11 after Hummel hit a free throw to complete a three-point play. After Jones followed with a layup, Hummel nailed a jumper, igniting a 14-0 run.
Purdue carried a comfortable 38-15 advantage into the break. The lead ballooned to 54-24 on a pair of Johnson free throws nearly six minutes into the second half. The end result was never in question.
