WEST SPRINGFIELD, Va. - Fairfax County

According to police, 21-year-old Jonathan E. Anderson broke into the home on Hillside Road in West Springfield about 11 p.m.
Anderson made so much noise the 56-year-old homeowner woke up, got a gun, and confronted Anderson, police said. Both men fired multiple times at each other, according to investigators. Police say Anderson had brought a gun with him to the home. Evidence crews were on the scene Thursday, combing nearby woods for the gun.
Anderson's father spoke to ABC 7 News Thursday. He said his son had just been laid off from his job on Wednesday.
"I am like a wreck right now," said the father, who didn't want to be identified.
The homeowner's family did not want to speak on camera. The entire neighborhood was shaken by the violent intrusion.
"The cop came by this afternoon and looked in our backyard, but we didn't hear anything and I'm just shocked to hear about something like that in our neighborhood," said Randa Alhaddad.
"I have a lot of friends that live on this street," said Ann Feeherry. "I don't like knowing that it is so dangerous around here
