WASHINGTON - D.C. Fire officials say three people were injured, two seriously, in a rowhouse fire in Northeast Washington.
Fire Department spokesman Alan Etter says the fire was reported about 7:30 p.m. Monday in the 600 block of Franklin Street. Firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the second floor of the two-story dwelling.
A family of five escaped the blaze. Etter says an adult male and an 11-year-old female were seriously burned in the blaze. A 3-year-old boy suffered smoke inhalation.
Etter says firefighters were hampered in battling the blaze by considerable clutter in the second-floor bedroom where the fire started.
