Family Survives Fire, But Cause of Blaze Still Unknown

Pete Piringer of the Montgomery County (web | news) Fire Department reports that a house fire consumed a family home on Saint Charles Place in Aspen Hill early Monday morning.
The department was called to the fire at the single-family rambler-style home around 2:28 a.m. The home's five residents attempted to fight the fire themselves when it was first discovered in a bedroom, but all five did escape the home safely before fire and rescue personnel arrived at the scene. Four of them suffered the effects of smoke inhalation and were treated at a local hospital, but all are expected to fully recover and none are seriously injured.
The home was badly damaged in the fire, suffering an estimated $50,000-$75,000 in damage.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
