Redskins Sign QB Hollenbach To Practice Squad
posted 12:30 pm Fri December 14, 2007 - Ashburn, Va.
The Washington Redskins signed former Maryland quarterback Sam Hollenbach to the practice squad Friday. Hollenbach was signed by the Redskins during the offseason but was released before the start of training camp.
The Redskins signed quarterback Jason Fife to the practice squad on Tuesday, but he was released Friday to make room for Hollenbach.
The Redskins started looking for an extra quarterback after Jason Campbell dislocated a kneecap in last week's game against Chicago. Campbell is expected to need four weeks to recover.
Todd Collins will start Sunday's game against the New York Giants, with Mark Brunell as the backup. Hollenbach will not be eligible to play unless he is added to the active roster, so receiver Antwaan Randle El has prepared this week to serve as the emergency quarterback.
