Maryland Senator Cardin to Discuss Torture at College Park

Senator Ben Cardin is headed to the University of Maryland, College Park, Monday for a field hearing on torture.
Cardin is a Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee. He was chairman for part of the confirmation hearing for Attorney General Michael Mukasey. Mukasey was grilled on the administration's views of what constitutes torture. Cardin will discuss torture, or forms of prohibited treatment, Monday at the student union. The hearing will also be attended by Democratic Congressman Alcee Hastings of Florida.
