Landowners Unite for Tysons Rail
posted 1:30 pm Sun December 02, 2007 - McLean, Va.
Tysons Corner property owners are coming together to make sure the planned extension of Metrorail to Dulles Airport becomes a reality. The coalition, called Tysons Tomorrow, is launching a public campaign to secure federal funding for the project and increase development in the area.
The group also hopes to weaken another coalition that has been trying for a year to build a tunnel under Tysons that would bury the rail tracks.
Tysons Tomorrow wants to end the pressure from tunnel advocates, fearing the push could cause further delays and scuttle the project.
The Federal Transit Administration is expected to decide in coming weeks whether to approve the rail project's first phase.
