CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - A University of Virginia spokesperson says members of the men's basketball team have been interviewed about missing Virginia Tech student Morgan Harrington.
University of Virginia Assistant Vice President of Public Affairs Carol Wood said in a statement that a woman matching Morgan Harrington's description approached members of the team after their practice.
Wood said the basketball players were interviewed as witnesses, and they cooperated completely with police. Their names are notb being released.
According to Wood, she released the statement "Because of the number of rumors that have been circulating about members of the University's men's basketball team in regard to the Morgan Harrington case."
Harrington was last seen on the Copeley Road bridge near University Hall on October 17. She attended a Metallica concert at John Paul Jones Arena that night.
Police are asking that if you have any information that could help with the investigation, you can call the Virginia State Police tip line at 434-352-3467.
The Harrington family is offering a $100,000 reward and the band Metallica is offering an additional $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person or person's responsible for Morgan Harrington's disappearance.
