(Sports Network) - Ilya Bryzgalov made 23 saves and the Phoenix Coyotes benefited from a pair of questionable calls in the third period to top Philadelphia, 3-1.

Matthew Lombardi posted a goal and one assist while Keith Yandle and Shane Doan also tallied for the Coyotes, who have won two of three.

"Tonight was a big challenge for us. They've got a great team," Lombardi said of the Flyers.

Scott Hartnell notched the only goal for the Flyers, who have dropped back-to- back road tilts in the middle of a five-game road swing.

Ray Emery played well in defeat, allowing just two goals on 20 shots.

Phoenix forged ahead by a goal thanks to a controversial play. Skating with the advantage, Coyotes defenseman Adrian Aucoin held the puck at the right point but the disc slipped beyond his grasp and slid just beyond the blue line before being brought back into the zone.

Play was allowed to continue without an offside call, and Aucoin nevertheless dished to Lombardi, who quickly found Yandle for the 2-1 with 9:41 to play.

"One linesman had his hand up and the other waived it off...Those are the break," Hartnell said of the controversial play.

Another interesting ruling gave the Coyotes their third goal of the game with 39.9 seconds left. Chris Pronger chased after Doan in front of the Flyers' empty net, and successfully blocked his try for the score. Doan was knocked down and a penalty was quickly called to halt play.

However, after an officials' conference, a goal was awarded instead of a penalty as it was ruled Doan had possession and was obstructed from scoring into a vacated net and Phoenix won by a 3-1 count.

Lombardi followed up a Flyers giveaway in their own zone for a power-play score 4:49 into the second period.

Just over seven minutes into the middle stanza, Hartnell was the beneficiary of a home-run pass by Claude Giroux which connected inside the Coyotes' zone. Alone ahead of the pack, he streaked in and wristed his seventh goal of the season.

Game Notes

Phoenix has won three of the last four meetings...Doan's goal tied him with former Jet Thomas Steen for third on the Jets/Coyotes franchise goal list with 264...It was just the second game in Glendale for Philadelphia, which won its first game there, 5-4, on October 18, 2003...Flyers forward Blair Betts left the game late in the second period and did not return. Following the game, Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren said Betts suffered a separated shoulder and could miss up to four weeks.
