WASHINGTON -

Police tell ABC 7 News a man has died and another is in grave condition after a double shooting in Northeast Washington.

Police say around 9:00 p.m. Wednesday they found two men inside a car near the intersection of 42nd and Meade streets Northeast who suffered from gunshot wounds.

Initially, police said it appeared the driver was shot, lost control of the car and hit parked cars on the side of the street. But after further investigation, it was determined that both men were shot, possibly by a third person in the same car, who then fled.

Both men were taken to local hospitals where one of them was later pronounced dead. The other is in critical condition.

Police are notifying kin before they release the identities of the men. They are still combing the scene for evidence to determine what happened.

Officials are still looking for a third suspect in the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to call 1-888-919-CRIME or text information to 50411.
