BETHESDA, Md. - A van careened off the Capital Beltway Wednesday afternoon, crashing through a fence and into a wooded area, killing the driver, Maryland State Police said.
The crash happened about 2: 30 p.m. on the Inner Loop, between Connecticut Avenue and Rockville Pike.
The crashed van caught fire and emergency responders briefly blocked off all lanes of the Inner Loop.
Only one lane remained block as of 5 p.m.
Police are currently investigating the cause of the accident.
