"I would love this for Michelle Obama.," said stylist George Worrell. "Well, the color red looks fabulous on her."
At the Saks Jandel store in Chevy Chase, Worrell showed how he would dress Michelle Obama. For business, he would dress her comfortable and confident and for cocktail, simple but elegant. For evening wear, Worrell is hoping the new first lady picks him to be her stylist. It would be a tremendous honor," said Worrell. "But I think at the end of the day, I'm just the second set of eyes."
It seems that it's not only her clothes that people are talking about. Celebrity Makeup Artist Kym Lee said she thinks Michelle Obama has a great face for makeup. "She has beautiful brows, she has really high cheekbones, full lips and so with all those things going in her favor -- which we normally have to make happen," Lee said.
The world's most prominent black woman will decide not only how she looks, but also how the White House looks. At the Woodrow Wilson House, there's a collection of White House china which the first ladies traditionally pick.
"I'm not sure she'd go for anything sort of as pretentious as the Hayes service, which was really quite elaborate and a bit fussy," noted curator John Powell.
Michelle Obama is also a mother, who says her daughters will have chores at the White House like making their own beds. Largo resident Trish Saunders said she agrees with Michelle Obama's parenting choices. "I think she's raising them the right way -- that way they won't think they're entitled," she said.
"That's wonderful," added Hampton resident Karen Reynes. "That'll make it easier for all moms to ask their kids to do their chores!"
It seems that beyond the title of fashion plate or socialite, the idea that she's a typical working mom may define the future first lady best of all.
