WASHINGTON - Police in D.C. are trying to figure out if two shootings that occurred two blocks away from each other  Sunday morning in SE are related.

In the first incident, sometime after 4:30 a.m., officers heard gunfire in the 700 block of Atlantic Street. Upon arriving on the scene, officers found several individuals running from the scene and weapons on the street. A short time later, a male suffering from three gunshot wounds showed up at Greater Southeast Hospital. He underwent surgery and is said to be in stable condition.

In a separate incident, an adult black male was found fatally shot in the rear of a residence in the 500 block of Foxhall Place also in SE. It is unclear how long the body had been there, but police were called to the scene shortly after 9:45 a.m. An autopsy is planned to determine the exact cause of death, but a preliminary investigation indicates he was shot to death.

The two shootings occurred two blocks away from each other and crime scene technicians are trying to find out if the two incidents are related.
