Democrat Kwame Brown, as predicted, handily won reelection to his at-large D.C. Council seat, while independent Michael A. Brown declared victory over incumbent Carol Schwartz, who followed up an unsuccessful primary bid for nomination with an ambitious write-in campaign.
Kwame Brown took about 48 percent of the vote. Michael Brown made a substantial showing as well, a second-place finish with nearly 20 percent of the vote. And in other races, incumbents Jack Evans, Muriel Bowser, Yvette M. Alexander, and Marion Barry all won reelection.
