DALE CITY, Va. - A little boy talks with ABC 7 two days after he was robbed at knife point on his way to school.
His family says the incident happened Monday morning near his Dale City home. The nine-year-old didn't show his face on camera but did talk about his frightening ordeal.
At four feet tall and 62 pounds he can easily stand up to his friends on the football field, but Monday he faced a five-foot-seven-inch tall teenager holding a knife.
Monday morning the boy was in tears after his walk to the bus stop went horribly wrong. He shared, "I went up to the bus stop and nobody was there. And when I turned around he was there with a knife, and after that he told me to give him my money."
Terrified, the boy turned and ran but the bigger kid punched him, slashed his backpack with the knife and threatened his life.
The nine-year-old remembered, "He just told me to give him my money or he gonna kill me, so I gave it to him."
The teen left with $3 and lunch money but also took the sense of security for parents of other boys, just trying to get to school.
"It's rough. It's scary -- scary, scary," said the nine-year-old's father.
As for the boy, he admits it was scary, too. He also admits he'd feel much better knowing it won't happen again.
Prince William County
(web | news) police are still trying to find the suspect, who they believe is between 12 and 14-years-old. They are patrolling the area and are asking anyone with information to give them a call.
