VIENNA, Va. - Six days before the voters head to the polls in Virginia both candidates for governor were in Vienna for an event attended by more than 30,000 people.
At Vienna's annual Halloween parade politics mixed in with a little bit of trick or treating. Gubernatorial candidates Bob McDonnell and Creigh Deeds moved down Maple Avenue with purpose -- to look thousands of voters in the eye.
About his lead in the polls, Republican candidate Bob McDonnell said, "We're very fortunate to have a little lead in the polls but really it's all about Election Day."
While McDonnell pushes his message of jobs creation and transportation improvements, his opponent insists that lagging poll numbers are irrelevant.
Democrat Creigh Deeds said, "We get the right turnout, we're gonna win."
McDonnell and Deeds agree that persuading the undecided to vote for them is critical for the candidate hoping to run the Commonwealth.
Both candidates hit the trail hard Thursday. They'll be at a number of locations and both will be at the Virginia Tech football game.
