BALTIMORE, Md. - The Maryland Board of Emergency Medical Services has approved a panel to review and improve protocols for medevacs after a helicopter crash last month that killed four people.

The EMS board chairman Donald DeVries Jr. said Friday that the panel will help EMS maintain its reputation as a "model for the entire country" and "provide the highest quality care available."

The panel includes professionals in medicine, public health and medical evacuation services from around the country.

Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems Executive Director Dr. Robert Bass says the panel's review and recommendations will help them continue their mission as safely, efficiently and effectively as possible."
