Montgomery County (web|news) police say they have linked the slaying of a Bethesda woman last month to two home invasion robberies targeting the elderly. Police say DNA evidence officially connected the two home invasions with the death of 63-year-old Mary Havenstein, who was killed in her home Sept. 4. Officials believe the same person may be responsible for three other home invasions during the last year. In all six incidents, the victims were bound and range in age from 63 and 92. Police say the suspect demanded various items, including cash and gold. Besides Bethesda, the crimes have occurred in Chevy Chase, Potomac and the Foxhall area of northwest Washington.
