Residents of a Prince George's County neighborhood are mourning the loss of a friend after a shooting there left one dead and three wounded on Saturday night.
Police say that the shooting occurred around 9:15 p.m. at Glenarden Apartments on the 8400 block of Hamlin Street. There they found four people, three men and one woman, with gunshot wounds. The victims were taken to the hospital, where 21-year-old Antwan Sorrell of Glenarden died from his injuries.
Officials say it appears the victims were talking when one or more suspects approached them and started to shoot. Police are seeking any leads on the shooting; they are still seeking suspects or a motive. They are still not even certain whether there were one or two shooters.
Sorrell's friends and family gathered for a candlelight vigil to remember him; he is described as a neighborhood leader and a friend to many. "We're all just really wishing this was a dream, but this is real, and it just hurts so bad," said one friend.
While police patrolled the apartment complex Sunday night, residents there say there are usually armed guards. Some now wonder if that is enough.
