The first and only vice presidential debate of the 2008 election is in the history books, and the reviews appear to be mostly favorable.
The highly-anticipated debate pitted the Senator against the Governor in a match up that many thought would provide more gaffes than substance.
But the debate produced few memorable moments or quotes in the minds of voters.
Many people who talked to ABC 7/NewsChannel 8 about Joe Biden's perceived poise and expertise.
"I was impressed with Senator Biden," said one voter.
Sarah Palin's folksy, on-message performance also surprised some watchers.
"I think that Palin did a much better job than I anticipated," said another voter.
Much of the focus was on Palin's performace, especially after a series of perceived missteps in national TV interviews.
"I thought her answers were to the point and overall I think she did an excellent job," said Joe Threatt.
"She's cute but dumb," observed Bob Heller.
"I thought the lady stepped up to the plate, but I thought Biden, he brought home the points," said Grace Roberts.
Many voters seemed to feel that Palin, while not producing any truly bizarre answers, "avoided some of the questions" during the debate. Both candidates were criticized for side-stepping some issues and instead talking up other issues that had little to do with the question.
"It bothers me that they don't answer the questions because that's what we're there to listen to," said Melanie Fronhofer.
Politico's Jeanne Cummings gives Palin a passing grade, but she said expectations were low.
"I don't think she changed the dynamic of the race, but I do think she improved her own standing and she needed to do that to help John McCain (web|news|bio)," said Cummings.
