The Federal and State Governments care more about animal safety childrens safety.

For them to only check for sex offences is crazy there are other offences out there!! This dude proved he was a complete nut. His record proved that also. They could have saved alot of time and trouble by just checking him out.

If this guy did what he is accused of he should go to jail for a while. As for the league not checking backgounds of coaches completely that is just flat out negligance on their part. We have to protect our kids better than that and if this guy is the only person willing to step up, coach and mentor our youth, that is pretty sad. If convicted felons want to volunteer and speak to kids from time to time to help encourage kids to stay out of trouble great, but convicted felons should NOT be given the keys to drive community youth projects that influence our most vulnerable and precious assets.....our children. The is no excuse for this kind of blunder. Stop making excuses...PLEASE!!!
