(Sports Network) - The Los Angeles Sparks used a balanced attack with five players in double figures to top the Seattle Storm, 77-69, in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals at the Staples Center.
Candace Parker, DeLisha Milton-Jones and Marie Ferdinand-Harris had 11 points apiece while Kiesha Brown and Lisa Leslie scored 10 each for the Sparks, who were 6-of-13 from beyond the arc.
Sue Bird netted 23 points on 9-of-15 shooting and again valiantly helped fill the void left by an injured Lauren Jackson, who had to undergo surgery after injuring her ankle during the Beijing Olympics. Tanisha Wright chipped in with 13 points for the Storm, who shot only 39.3 percent from the field.

Game 2 is scheduled for Sunday in Seattle while Game 3, if necessary, will be held Tuesday September 23, also in Seattle.
