A team of Virginia Department of Forestry workers is headed to Texas to help with the Hurricane Ike relief efforts.
The 14-member team is going to College Station, Texas, where it will likely help coordinate chain saw crews for debris removal. The team is also expected to help utility crews restore electricity and set up and run a food distribution center.
Team members will work 16-hour days for approximately two weeks.
Resource Protection Director John Miller says the department is often called upon to provide disaster relief services and is happy to help.
