D.C. police have identified the 'suspicious substance' found on the Gallaudet University campus as plant fertilizer.
Police officers, firefighters, bomb squad technicians and FBI (web) agents were called to Ballard North Hall at 800 Florida Avenue in Northeast Washington Wednesday morning.
Investigators say six canisters of plant fertilizer and a heat lamp were found in a space above an unassigned dorm room. Police don't think the material was related to a threat.
Authorities evacuated the 300 students who live in the Ballard North and Ballard West halls during the investigation.
