A 52-year-old D.C. man has been sentenced to 24 years in prison for robbing and shooting a downtown liquor store manager. Robert D. Black was sentenced Thursday by D.C. Superior Court Judge Robert Richter. Black was convicted in June on robbery, assault and gun charges. Prosecutors say Black went into the Tunnel Wines and Spirits store on December 22, 2007 after midnight and demanded cash. He tried to push the store manager to the back of the store, but the manager refused and ran out the front door. As the manager ran away, prosecutors say Black fired his gun, hitting the man in the leg. Police tracked Black down later that night with the help of witnesses.
