British leader Brown in Baghdad; troops on agenda

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown is holding meetings with Iraq (web|news) i leaders in Baghdad.The visit Saturday comes less than a week after Britain announced plans to substantially scale back its troop numbers in Iraq next year. There are currently 4,000 British troops in Iraq, mostly based near the southern city of Basra.
Brown's meetings will include talks with Iraq's prime minister, Nouri al-Maliki, and other top officials.
The stop in Baghdad also coincides with preparations for a planned fact-finding visit to Baghdad by U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama (web|news|bio) .
