Democrat Barack Obama (web|news|bio) wants to promote health insurance coverage through small employers by offering them a tax credit covering up to 50 percent of their employee premiums.Former rival Hillary Rodham Clinton (web|news|bio) championed the idea during her own campaign for the presidency.
Obama says the credit will not only help small businesses grow but create good jobs with health care in the United States.
He was rolling out the idea Sunday in San Diego while addressing a Hispanic audience at the annual convention of the National Council of La Raza.
Both Obama and Republican presidential contender John McCain (web|news|bio) are actively courting Hispanic votes.
