New accusations are surfacing about an alleged hazing incident at a Prince George's County fire house that is no stranger to controversy, according to a source who showed a videotape of the incident to ABC 7/NewsChannel 8's Kris Van Cleave.
A troubling home video tape has surfaced, which appears to take place at the Kentland Volunteer Fire Department. A video shown to ABC 7/NewsChannel 8's Kris Van Cleave includes what was described as a recent hazing incident involving a volunteer.
The person who showed the video is scared to let it be shown publicly, fearing reprisals for acting as a whistle blower.
The video shows a man sprayed repeatedly with a fire hose and a fire extinguisher in front of what appears to be the Landover Road station. "We don't condone hazing here. Guys mess around, they horse play because it's a tight knit group, but there's never been an incident where they are hazed or have to be hazed to become a member. That's unheard of," Chief Anthony Kelleher said.
Kelleher has been the chief since January and said he's not familiar with the recording. It shows fire works being set off inside the firehouse, where fire trucks are now parked.
It's not the first time the station has made headlines. There was a very public fight with the county over staffing of an ambulance, and reports of fist fights between Kentland volunteers and other volunteer companies over who would put out a fire.
