State prosecutors say a District Heights man has been convicted of first-degree murder for shooting a Clinton man in April.

Prince George's County State's Attorney Glenn Ivey said a jury found 22-year-old Marcus Dow guilty Wednesday of murdering 52-year-old Michael Morris on April 11. Dow has been sentenced to life in prison plus 20 years.

Dow shot Morris after he and another man broke up a fight in their neighborhood between two women.

Police were called but after officers left, another fight started. Dow shot Morris in the face because Morris reportedly attacked the husband of one of the women involved in the initial fight.

The jury deliberated for eight hours before delivering a verdict.
