A Fairfax County (web|news) couple is searching for the owner of a $40,000 diamond ring that they have found.
Forty-six-year-old Keith Stetzer says he was finishing a cigarette recently in an abandoned Tysons Corner parking lot when he noticed the 3-carat ring against a concrete barrier. His wife, Linda, had it cleaned by a jeweler, who noted the value and found the word "Mervis" imprinted inside the band.
The couple then took it to the Mervis Diamond Center in Tysons. Jonathan Mervis of the diamond center says the company is now helping in the search for the ring's owner. They are taking calls and will verify ownership through their records.
The company says the ring is at least three years old.
Keith Stetzer insists he isn't looking for recognition, saying he's only trying to return something somebody has lost.
