The U.S. Attorney's Office says a Hyattsville man has been sentenced to more than seven years in prison for keeping a 14-year-old girl from Mexico as a prostitute and sex slave. Thirty-five-year-old Javier M. Ramirez pleaded guilty in March and was sentenced to 87 months on Monday. He must serve five years of supervised release and must also register as a sex offender. According to his plea agreement, Ramirez took the girl to Maryland and Virginia, where she had sex with clients from August 2005 to June 2006. The girl met with at least 25 clients per day, and gave most of the money she earned to Ramirez. She told the clients that she was 20 years old. Prosecutors say the girl was dependent on Ramirez for housing, food and clothing. She often stayed with Ramirez, who also would have sex with the girl.
