D.C. police say an elderly couple was shot and killed in an apparent murder-suicide at an assisted-living facility.
Police Chief Cathy Lanier says the couple had lived at Ingleside at Rock Creek in northwest Washington for seven years.
Authorities received a call at 11:11 a.m. Thursday about a shooting in the 3000 block of Military Road, NW.
Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult female in the parking garage area of the facility suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Officers then located a second victim, an adult male also suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
The decedents in this case have been identified as 90-year-old Richard Funkhouser and 84-year-old Phyllis Funkhouser.
