(Sports Network) - The Dallas Stars inked free agent forward Fabian Brunnstrom to a two-year entry-level contract on Friday. "We are very excited to get the caliber of player that Fabian is under contract for the next two seasons," said Stars co-general manager Les Jackson. "He is a very good prospect and will definitely be a nice addition to our group of younger players."

The highly-touted and coveted young star spent the previous season with Farjestads BK Karlstad in the Swedish Elite League, compiling nine goals and 37 points in 54 games. Brunnstrom led his club in assists and was fifth in scoring.

The 23-year-old Swede chose to sign with Dallas over other traditional hockey hotbeds like Montreal, Detroit and Toronto -- along with Anaheim and Vancouver. He was allowed to seek a team with which to sign after going undrafted as an 18-year-old.

"It was a really hard decision for me," Brunnstrom said. "Dallas was the third team that I visited so when I came home I thought about everything. It was a really hard decision for me. The other clubs were really good, too. But I just felt that Dallas was a little bit better for me."

Brunnstrom is expected to join the Stars for next season, Currently, Dallas is squaring off against rival Detroit in the Western Conference finals.
