The Loudoun County (web|news) Sheriff's Office says it has detained a man in connection with an apparent murder in the Middleburg area.

Terence E. Dade, 23, has been charged with first-degree murder and use of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He is being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center in Leesburg.

Deputies were called to the 35200 block of Snake Hill Road just before midnight Wednesday for a report of a person injured in the woods.

The victim, 21-year-old Jajuan "Murphy" Johnson of Fort Washington, Maryland was pronounced dead on the scene. He suffered blunt force trauma, according to police.

Police say Dade and Johnson had been acquainted; both had lived in the village of St. Louis in Loudoun County. Family members say Johnson had been in the area visiting his mother, who celebrated her birthday Wednesday night.

Investigators have not released the identity of the person who was taken into custody. Deputies say the man will likely be charged Thursday.
