A Maryland task force has released recommendations on how to avoid voting irregularities that happened in the 2006 primary. The report to attorney General Doug Gansler includes 13 recommendations that can be implemented before November. One of them involves paying greater attention to insure precincts have enough voting machines to avoid long lines. Another includes making sure people have enough privacy at voting machines. The report also calls on local election boards to make sure they have a system of communication in place to be informed of extended voting hours in case problems arise. The task force focused its report on issues that can be addressed by November. It plans to issue another report with longer-term recommendations later this year.
