A Prince George's County fire official says a fire broke out on the roof of an eight-story condominium under construction at National Harbor.
County Fire and EMS spokesman Mark Brady says more than 50 firefighters were called to the site in Oxon Hill on Thursday evening because there were reports that workers were trapped. But he says the flames were put out in 15 minutes and firefighters found no workers in danger.
Brady says construction workers had left for the day when a pile of tar paper and roofing supplies caught fire, but a few rushed back when they saw smoke. Firefighters found them on the roof.
Damage is estimated at about $5,000.
