It is good to see young people doing something positive. I got my first summer job through this program and it was definitely a positive experience. I am also glad to see that they extended the program to ten weeks this year. I think this is the first time they have had a ten week summer jobs program. That should give a lot of youth extra cash and keep them busy throughout the summer vacation. Kudos Mayor Fenty and the Department of Employment Services.

DC's annual "Give a kid a paycheck for showing up two out of five days a week, 2 hours late, and try to keep them off the phone and off the internet while they're at work" program is back.

They're just teaching them to be DC governement workers when they grow up.
