Annapolis police say they have made an arrest in connection with the recent thefts of change from city parking meters.
Police say a witness reported seeing a man opening meters on Cornhill Street late Monday night. Using the witnesses' description, police arrested 27-year-old Keith Edmonds on Cathedral Street.
Police say he was found with more than $23 in quarters, dimes and nickels in his pockets and admitted to thefts from four meters on Monday. Police say he also admitted breaking into other downtown meters recently but told police the machines were found to be empty.
Police reported last week that someone had used a master key to illegally open and remove an estimated $2,000 in change from more than 80 parking meters.
