Prosecutors say an elderly woman was a "50-50" partner in a scheme to murder two homeless men in Southern California to collect life insurance.Deputy District Attorney Truc Do told jurors Thursday that Olga Rutterschmidt was an equal participant with co-defendant Helen Golay. The jury has convicted Golay of two counts of murder and two counts of conspiracy to commit murder for financial gain. Rutterschmidt was convicted of conspiring to murder one victim, but the jury has not made decisions on two murder counts and another conspiracy count against her.
The judge ordered attorneys to present new arguments on those counts, and the jury will resume deliberations after Rutterschmidt's defense.
