(web | news) , Va. - Mary Jane McCann and her husband Dan have released a sketch of a woman in their quest to find out what happened to their daughter, 16-year-old Annie, whose body was in an East Baltimore public housing project Sunday, Nov. 1.
The West Potomac High School junior left a note for her parents the Friday before, saying she had run away from home. She didn't show up at school that day. McCann was last seen about 5:30 a.m. Friday, about 46 hours before her body was discovered. Her parents say she had no connection to the neighborhood where she was found. Her car was later found nearby.
Maryland's medical examiner later ruled she died from an overdose of Bactine, an the over-the-counter wound disinfectant which contains lidocaine, a powerful anesthetic.
The McCanns hired a private investigator to find out what happened to Annie. The sketch of a young, dark-haired woman was reportedly the result of an interview with a witness in Baltimore, who reported seeing the woman in the sketch with McCann in Baltimore's Little Italy neighborhood. The sketch was released in cooperation with the Baltimore police, the McCanns said.

"We want the truth," Mary Jane McCann said in an interview with ABC 7 News. "No matter what it is, no matter how painful or what the circumstances are, we want the truth and if this person can lead us to the truth and if this person can lead to closure for Annie we want that."
According to a release from the family, the woman in the sketch is described as a white female, with a dark complexion. She is 18 to 23 years old, 5'7" to 5'10", and 120 to 130 pounds. She has dark brown straight hair, dark brown eyes and was wearing very heavy makeup, including eye liner, mascara and foundation to cover dark circles under her eyes. She also had unusual yellow or brown nail polish and wore a navy blue hooded sweat shirt and tight jeans .
Annie's father says in order to go on with their lives, they want to know the details surrounding their daughter's death.
"My wife and I, we're in some sort of place that not many people get ---thank God -- but it's a suspended grief, in some limbo of pain," he said.
Teachers and students at West Potomac High School handed out flyers Thursday in the search for answers.
"Anything we can do to find answers for the McCanns and for all of us," said Kelcy Pierre, a teacher at the school. "We all want to know what happened to Annie."
"If they could find anyone then that would really be helpful," added Mariya Ilyas, a student.
"I'm a mother and I'm a teacher and this is a tragedy and a travesty and it shouldn't go unsolved," said Mary Mathewson.
There is a $10,000 reward for information. The McCann family put up $8,000. Baltimore's Metro Crime Stoppers is offering $2,000.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP (756-2587)
