I would have to agree with your assessment of the ACLU. I believe that they stop being relevant a few decades ago. There was once a time when it was necessary to have them around, but now they seem to take on any cause. I lost respect for this organization when children all over this great land of ours refused to say the pledge of allegiance in class and wanted to sue. The ACLU was all over that debacle. If you don't want to say the pledge of allegiance, just sit there and shut up. There's no reason to sue!!!!

The ACLU is a subversive organization. They are the epitome of HATE AMERICA first. They file frivoulous law suits to bog the court in paper work and evry cause they take up is to damage the country. They and the SPLC, ADL and other such orgainzations are the one who should be monitored yet they are the self appointed watch dogs. I want to puke from reading this.

When they are fighting to give away my tax dollars to illegals, then I do not feel they are working for the best interest of the American people. I went back to college in my 30s and most of those in the college were illegals from arab countries who did not pay a dime. I on the other hand was unemployed for two years and was forced to borrow every dime to pay for college. Both of my children attempted to get money for college but were denied, yet go to NVCC and see how many illegals who do not have any business in this country and I will bet most of them are using my tax dollars to go to school...I have asked for help from the ACLU on several occasions and have litterally been told by those idiots that "because I am white, they were unable to help me". These are the same people that have taken lawsuits with prisoners who don't like the color of there cells, underwear and the type of food they are served. They sued to allow them to have televisions, radios and sex with thier wives. So don't tell me they take up good causes. They are an agency that has allowed the degregation of America as we know it. Because of them, we now have 12 to 20 million illegals in this country. I have yet to read an issue that they have defended that was truely for the rights of the Americans...

John61 is obviously ignorant of the law and a whole lot of other things. The ACLU seldom files suit unless they believe it is well-supported by settled law or a good faith argument for an extension of that law. Whether average citizens agree with these skilled lawyers dedicated to maintaining important rights is largely irrelevant. What courts rule is the point.

Really, who cares what the ACLU thinks. They are for everything the American public is against. These people are so backwards and we worry about what they think. I thought they were there for legal Americans not the illegal ones. Tell these jerks to bag it and go do something usefull in a third world country.

American taxpayers shouldn't be punished for the decisions of criminals. All should be deported, to include the ACLU. I wish they would repeal the anchor baby law.

I agree that the kids can't be punished for their parents' acts. However, most college tuition and assistance is based on the parent's income and assets, not that of the child. So, why should the parents be cut a break if they are illegal? If the parents are found out to be illegal, they should be deported immediately, then there won't be a problem! If the children of illegal aliens were born here and are American citizens (which I don't agree with), then they should have to become emancipated from their parents before receiving the benefits, or be 18. If they were born here and their parents were illegal, they should be made to take the citizenship test and oath before receiving benefits here.

A side note to the ACLU. AMERICAN Civil Liberties ...... Illegal aliens are not Americans. This does not involve you!
