A young District boy is making waves in the swimming pool.
And now he'll be able to pursue his Olympic gold-medal dreams, thanks to a prestigious honor.
With the help of the Boys and Girls Club of Washington, 12-year-old Jared Miller was just awarded the Hank Aaron "Chasing the Dream" scholarship.
He's one of 44 children nationwide who received the $2,500 scholarship.Jared's family is thrilled, and will use the money on new swimsuits and swim team fees.
As for Jared, he's simply focused on making every practice pay off.
"You work harder in practice than you do in meets -- so you get ready and practice," says Jared Miller. "If you don't go fast in practice then you won't go fast in the meet."
The scholarship is awarded to deserving children each year to help them achieve their greatest goals.
