TYSONS CORNER, Va. - In Tysons Corner, the snow Friday night was falling sideways: the wind was picking up and it was thick.
Plows had already scrapped Route 7 but the roadway was quickly covered with snow again.
One driver told us, "It's rough. It's getting worse."
VDOT crews and hundreds of private plows were out clearing roads and parking lots. They were running back and forth as the snow kept accumulating on the surfaces cleared minutes and hours earlier.
Meanwhile, some commuters scrambling to get home found themselves in trouble on the roads. Tow trucks were trying to help them out.
Drivers told us the on and off ramps were scary and the driving conditions were miserable.
In fact, Virginia State Police have gotten more than 2200 calls for assistance. The reason for that is the heavy snow that just keeps on coming down. It's definitely tough on drivers.
