Frederick Deputies Getting Immigration Training

The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency began the four-week training course Monday.
The in-depth training focuses on immigration law, intercultural relations and using Department of Homeland Security databases to identify criminals and immigration violators.
Frederick County Sheriff Chuck Jenkins says 26 deputies volunteered for the training. Jenkins says federal agents can't control the number of illegal immigrants without local help.
The federal government is covering the cost of the training.
