Apartment Building Fire Threatens Hundreds

The fire, Fairfax County (web | news) fire officials said, was contained to one ninth-floor apartment. A fire department spokesman noted that the third alarm was called largely as a precaution, since the building houses hundreds and could have developed into a very serious situation.
Several patients were treated on the scene, and three were transported for medical attention.
A few floors of the apartment building, located in 3800 block of Powell Lane, were evacuated.
